Palau Dalmases. Baroque space in the heart of the Born district in Barcelona. Montcada street is witness of the growth of a city that, in the 16th century, has in its beautiful street the palaces and residences of the most notable and influential families of the city. With no doubt, Palau Dalmases is one of the most important examples.
This precious palace of baroque influence testifies to the artistic, political and cultural life in Catalonia. Between its walls, and thanks to the remarkable personality of Pau Ignasi Dalmases, the Academia de los Desconfiados (Academy of the Suspicious) met from 1700, and after that the Academia de las Buenas Letras also met there.
Notable men and scholars, music lovers, held here art and thought sessions. Today, Palau Dalmases offers its visitors a unique space, outside the hustle of the streets. Just across the courtyard, as you approach to the imposing staircase, you can guess the calm and good taste weather. This baroque space is an unprecedented enclave, where accompanied by the old furniture and the works of art, you can drink, listen to classical music and also enjoy live opera concerts.
